The Electrolabs team have over 40 years of combined experience in both the Professional music and Education fields. Stand alone sound artists, producers, performers, musicians, DJs, workshop designers and facilitators with credits for film, radio, dance and theatre, Dave Martin and Steve Gasgarth bring the best of their experience and knowledge into this formative project. Alongside their individual experience, Dave and Steve have worked together on a number of projects prior to ElectroLabs, including: Music Workshops in Schools, Live Performance, Music Creation for various Projects and Art Installations.
Dave Martin is a professional electronic music producer and percussionist who has worked nationally and internationally with theatre, production and dance companies, solo artists,visual artists and bands and has also produced music for film and radio.
His main style is big electronic dance music but he also enjoys making ambient and more experimental sounds and loves to work with theatre companies, visual artists, dancers, DJs, performers on unusual projects and in interesting and exciting spaces.
Dave is an accomplished and passionate percussionist who has devoted many years to learning his craft. He has delved deeply into styles from around the world particularly North Indian Tabla and Middle Eastern frame drumming, traveling far and wide to find traditional teachers. As a percussionist Dave has played with many groups and musicians from all over the country covering many styles and enjoys exploring new ground.
Dave has been running workshops around the country in schools and communities for many years with theatre companies, Feiseans and a number of local authorities. He has a great passion for this work and loves to be able to give participants of all ages and abilities the opportunity to have a lot of fun exploring sound, percussion and electronic music and is very experienced in working successfully with children and young people of all ages.
Dave is lucky enough to be trained and experienced in using the latest laptop based Soundbeam Technology (create sound/music and visual projections with movement through the use of ultra sonic sensors).
Dave was also involved in the setting up and running of multi arts company Wildbird, community music project Moray Future Music and of The Big Fat Electric Ceilidh.
Steve Gasgarth is a professional producer and DJ who has worked nationally and internationally with DJ outfits, Solo Artists, Dance Companies, Percussionists and Bands and has had music produced for radio and record labels. Also known as ‘Monkey Magic’ Steve has created and worked with many companies and projects including the Zen Masters, Kinetic and Fervent De Facto, and has DJ’d alongside some of the best DJs in the world.
Steve mainly writes and works with Electronic based music, having organised clubs, events and festivals and DJ’d professionally for many years, but is known for incorporating many styles and influences into the music he creates, performs and collaborates on.
An Apple Certified ‘Logic Pro’ Steve has been working with Logic and Apple Macs for over 12 years, and has designed and delivered Music and DJ workshops in the UK for 15 years, working with children, young people and adults with a wide range of learning styles and needs in schools, youth centres, and for local authorities, community groups and Community Arts organisations.
Steve also works locally and internationally with charities, youth groups, social work and schools delivering youth empowerment, support and mentoring programmes and has trained and worked in Social Care and Youth Work.
Jason Sinclair is another multi-talented duderino. While being an awesome film maker Jason is also the drummer in the equally unique and awesome band Cuddly Shark. After many years enveloped in the Glasgow music scene Jason moved back up North to start up his own company Poppycock Films. Alongside his music videos and film commissions, Jason is now our main film maker extraordinaire.
Graeme Roger’s work includes sculpture, film, performance, photography, installations, theatre and residency projects, often collaborating with other artists and musicians, forming part of ROGER & REID and GANGHUT. Currently working on various art & new media projects Mr Rogers heads up the Creative Identities projects in the Highlands & Islands & is the big boss of the Digi Box at Eden Court Theatre. Oh and he is also a director of the mighty Wildbird arts company!
